Aretha Franklin -aka- the Queen of Soul has made massive contributions to music and culture over the years including performing at the inauguration of America’s first black president. But now at 74 she is planning to go off into “retirement” bringing an end to her 61 year career. But she won’t go quietly because she will be releasing a new album first in September, perhaps her final studio album. The new album will be an ode to her city, Detroit and feature production from Stevie Wonder. After the album is released, she won’t simply disappear because she plans to work on special projects from time to time, maybe once a month for six months a year, hence “Retirement“. We love you Aretha.
